From November through March the situation changes in two ways at once. Windows stay closed, so nothing ventilates and the same air keeps recirculating. At the same time the heating system runs for months, pulling air through ducts and pushing it back out through vents that have been collecting dust since the previous winter. If the system has a filter that has not been changed, it moves that material around instead of catching it. Second, change the filter in your heating system on schedule, since a loaded filter stops catching anything. Third, increase the frequency of regular cleaning rather than the intensity.
